  • EPR is a statutory obligation notified by MoEF&CC and implemented by CPCB for environmentally sound management of end-of-life batteries and critical material–bearing waste.
  • As per Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 (BWMR 2022), producers, importers, and brand owners must meet collection, recycling, and material recovery targets.
  • EPR obligations must be fulfilled only through CPCB-registered authorized recyclers.
