Being a research driven organisation, Rubamin Laboratories Limited, has about 30% of its total workforce in R&D; continuously focused on solving complex chemistry problems of our customers. Our R&D centre is also recognised by CSIR, DST, Government of India, for its activities, infrastructure and facilities.
Development and introduction of new product at a speed ahead of market expectation are key to our success. This offers significant challenges to our R&D team which is managed through an effective New Product Introduction protocol, from project selection to development and finally delivery to customers, based on an internationally recognised “Stage Gate” project management methodology.
We are continuously engaged in leveraging Rubamin’s existing strengths in the area of:
| • |
C-C Bond Formation |
• |
Azide Chemistry |
| • |
Friedel Craft Chemistry |
• |
Oxidations |
| • |
Condensation |
• |
Cyanations |

Besides exploring new frontiers of technological development |
| Our key R&D activities are: |
| Product Development |
We focus on development of viable chemical routes for intermediates having end uses in the Pharmaceuticals and specialised Electronic, color applications. The activity involves conceptualisation of the product, route selection, execution and finally delivery of the samples and approval from customer with bulk order.
An open two-way dialogue with the customer/end-user at various stages with unwavering focus on quality & appropriate cost ensures that we deliver an optimal solution within the agreed time.
Several product development groups each consisting of 3-4 chemists and a group leader, work towards effective development of a product once it has been screened though the “Stage Gate” methodology.
|
| |
| Process Development & Optimisation |
Process development and optimization activities are focused on both new and existing products. The process development works with both the lab and kilo lab personnel for converting “chemical reactions“ to “chemical processes”.
Improvement in quality profile of the products, telescoping of process steps and optimization of process conditions are some of the activities undertaken by the process development group. The group is also responsible for validation and smooth & surprise-free scale up of various processes.
|
| NCE Development Support |
The support of NCE development activities of several Global Pharmaceutical majors, adds to the confidence of our R&D team, which looks forward to be a partner in your NCE development programme.
Total confidentiality through secrecy agreement, quick response for multi gram to multi kilogram delivery of advanced intermediates and willingness to work with emerging product chemistry attributes, has helped us forge long-term and mutually rewarding business relationships. At any time we are supporting 3-4 NCE development activities.
R&D Capabilities will be further enhanced with the commissioning of new state of art laboratory facilities of GLP standards by middle of 2006.

| Analytical Development |
R&D Capabilities will be further enhanced with the commissioning of new state of art laboratory facilities of GLP standards by middle of 2006; to gear up to the challenges of future need of our customers.
The product & process development is supported by full-fledged analytical section with in-house lab facilities which include CFR 21 compliant FTIR, GC, HPLC, UV Autotitrator, Spectrophotometer Polarimter, etc.
A networking with labs in the city for NMR, LC-MS, GC-MS ensures easy access to these facilities and aid effective product/process development.
The Capabilty encompasses analytical method development for new product development and also validation of in-house analytical methods and integration of customer's analytical methods with our SOP's. It also supports QC for in-process testing and also supports process development and process validation initiatives by R & D.

| Kilo Lab (Small Volume Manufacturing) |
The kilo lab facility has reactors of up to 20 liters capacity, and other associated equipment. This facility is manned on a full time basis with an experienced chemical engineer supported by post graduate chemists. It is utilized both for scale up studies on the in-house developed products and processes as well as manufacture of 5- 10 kg samples of high value intermediates.
